Peace Community Center supports a variety of community programs in a number of ways.
The Center serves as a free community meeting place for a number of neighborhood groups and events, including:
- blockwatch groups
- other area non-profits
- community gatherings
- family shelter during severe weather conditions
Space at the Center is also rented at a low fee to Hilltop residents for uses such as birthday parties, baby showers, and other activities that are often cost-prohibitive for residents of our neighborhood.
For more information on how to reserve and/or rent a space at Peace Community Center, please visit the Facility Use page.
Additionally, each year staff meets with multiple churches, individuals, and non-profits who are interested in learning from our experience in fund-raising, developing a companion non-profit to a congregation, or youth academic tutoring program development. While the Center does not provide formal consulting, encouragement, advice, relational connections and sample resources are provided. Organizations and churches supported over the years include:
- Mountain View Community Center
- Southwest Washington Synod ELCA Congregations
- Manitou Park United Presbyterian Church
- Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church
- Church of the Apostles
Please contact Kerri Greenaway at
admin@peacetacoma.org if your organization is interested in learning from the Center's experience.
One of the best-known community outreach programs at the Center is the feeding program, which occurs in October and April. Please visit the feeding program page for more information, particularly how to get involved.
