Volunteer

Peace Community Center relies on volunteers for much of the work we do in the community. Volunteers are screened and provided training before they work with students. Should you be interested in volunteering, please contact, Ruth Tollefson at rutht@peacetacoma.org. Below are some opportunities to volunteer with Peace's programs:

Hilltop Scholars

Volunteers with Hilltop Scholars tutor high school students on whatever homework they have that day. Expertise in all subjects is welcome, though students often bring math, science, foreign language (particularly Spanish), and writing assignments to work on. Tutoring runs after school, Monday through Thursday, from approximately 3-5:30pm.

KidREACH

KidREACH meets Tuesday and Thursday nights. All mentors are volunteer, and help is always welcome. Volunteers are typically coupled with one child (age K-5), and work with that child throughout the year. Fostering relationships with caring adults is a priority of the program, along with the math and reading skills covered by a student and mentor.

Feeding Program

Volunteers are also the backbone for our Feeding Program. Churches and organizations from throughout Pierce and Thurston County provide food and volunteers to serve this meal five nights a week throughout the month of April and October. If you would like to be a part of this program, contact Administrative Manager Kerri Greenaway at admin@peacetacoma.org.
